You Can Contribute to the Scholarship Program
What is the Scholarship Program?
The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department has developed a scholarship program that is designed to aid those youth in our community who are in need of financial assistance in order to participate in our recreation programs. The Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department feels it is essential to every child’s development to interact with others. The development of this scholarship program allows this for children who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to participate in our program. Upon approval of a participant’s application, partial cost of program participation will be paid through our scholarship fund.
Why Support Recreation Activities?
There are a number of benefits that you may incur through supporting and/or participating in recreation activities. You will allow a participant to:
- Enhance their self esteem
- Learn to take responsibility for their actions
- Be provided with a social environment for social interaction
- Increase their health and fitness levels
- Develop and improve physical skills
- Stimulate their thinking and reasoning abilities
- Learn to control their emotions
About the Scholarship Fund
All money raised and collected through donations designated for scholarships will be kept separate from other finances in a designated scholarship fund. Any money in this fund will be distributed through scholarships only.
